We've started working on the album covers as a part of the artist's image and product. Particularly on what the album covers denotes and connote to us. What kind of star image is created and want to be shown to us and seen by the customers.

Timeline

The work of on the timeline was a very time-consuming process. We had to go deeply in the details of every second of our Music video, as well as the song. The catwalk shots, backstage and the stage. Imagining our stars, their make up, outfit and actions!

Treatment for the video

There are some treatments for our music video.
One of them is that we could start from a narrative part which shows us the strict family with one of the girls from the band, and create some kind of a story behind the whole performance of the band and their song. We were inspired by Timati - Tatto music video that starts that way.

Another treatment we thought about was girls band performing on a round stage, on white background, nothing special, however adds to our whole star image we are trying to create for the band. Additionally, we thought that our performance part can be an empty room with girls walking and singing, with other props and items going in and out of the shot , with which performers can interact, for example like in Kelis music video Trick Me

The image of our performers I guess should be absolutely extraordinary , and 'star' looking but not an ordinary. Girls should suit to that image perfectly in order not to ruin the whole idea and image we are trying to create for the audience. These are girls who are sexy and are desired by every man in the world. They must be stunning and clean , as well as puzzling and untouchable, in my opinion, so that we can market them easily, however their songs should be about every woman is dreaming. They are living the life every ordinary woman and girl is dreaming of. They are in the showbiz, everybody wants them.

Choosing a song

T.G.L.O production started on working on the song today.
Here are some initial ideas and songs that inspired us and decide on what exactly do we want to do.

This song could be a nice choice for a girls bad, however not rhythmic enough, but we want it to be more energetic.

We want to have that kind of a band, but with the girls singing. The song is also represents the kind we want. We want to create a picture of 70' 80' times band.









Duran Duran - Girls on Film

That is the song we like the most, because it suits perfectly and also have the right sense, the one we need and want particularly. It even has some initial ideas we can use for a treatment.  We can add some voyeurism idea and feeling in order to create it more seductive and maybe interesting for the audience.

1st ideas generation

Today we have formed our group. We are Genevieve, Tilly, Ottavia and me. We have loads of ideas but here are the main :

We want the music to be the mix of 60's 70's and 80's E.g.David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Duran Duran. Because the picture we want to present is the girls band singing boys band song. They can be androgynous looking, or the other way more female looking, can be hipper style or glamour.

We would like our stage to be very light and round , could be even spinning around.



My Expectations of the course.

I am very glad to start a new study year. I got very good grades, and very excited to continue with the same enthusiasm. Can't wait to be put into groups and start working on our music video and coursework overall. I expect this year to bring me a lot of new knowledge in production area. I already have 187 marks, and I hope I can easily get the same amount next year and even more to get an A*. Additionally, I want to enjoy the "Critical Thinking in Media" part of the year, because it is very novel and interesting for me. Media becomes not only creative but also will be shown to us from another side. We'll have to understand the media theory and use conventions from the real media texts and learn how to apply it to our product, when analysing it. This time we will be taught a lot more about on-line life and the right ways of serving the Internet and all the social networks (e.g. Twitter, Facebook), as well as, we will have to do more research and planning work. Our blogging skills will improve and it will be very fun and enjoyable time to have.

Introduction to A2

I've done a great job at AS and received nice grades, however I would like to make my next year grades even higher. This year we are going to learn a lot about the Music Industry. That was I was looking forward to, and glad to study now, because music is one of the most essential parts of everyone life.  We are listening to the music when we are sad, happy, want to relax or ,make fun, therefore I want to know more about another side of that business : music artists and production companies. We have already started exploring the work of different music theorist e.g. Richard Dyer, Keith Negus, Theodor Adorno. Additionally, we looked at different kinds of artists (e.g. synthetic, organic) and their evolution through out their career.
I'm looking forward to film my personal music video, and already have a lot of ideas, and tracks we can use to make it as good as possible. I hope to gain as much knowledge as I am able to and try my best in all creative work.
